‘My dream’: 14-goal striker sold by Liverpool in 2021 now wants Premier League return – HITC – Football, Gaming, Movies, TV, Music
HITC Photo by Clive Brunskill/Getty Images Back in July 2021, Liverpool sanctioned the sale of Taiwo Awoniyi to Union Berlin, with the Reds receiving £6.5m for the striker. Since then, the 24-year-old has shone in Germany, with some Liverpool fans feeling that it was a mistake to let him leave Anfield. However, there’s a chance Awoniyi could soon return to England. Well, in an interview with Kicker, the Nigerian revealed that he would like to return to the Premier League one day. Awoniyi said: “The Premier League is my dream. Everyone knows that, including here in the club. If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child, just by myself because of the language. Also, my sister and a brother live on the island.” By the sounds of it, the Union Berlin hitman hasn’t settled well in Germany. You wouldn’t think that was the case, judging by how well he’s done out on the pitch. So far this season, Awoniyi has scored 14 goals in 28 games, while also registering three assists. If Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino end up leaving Anfield in the near future, Jürgen Klopp should think about re-signing Awoniyi. The Nigerian is built for the Premier League, and clearly knows where the back of the net is. Additionally, Liverpool have a 10% sell-on clause included in the deal, which should technically ensure they get a discount on the fee (Goal). The Reds will received 10% of the transfer fee if Awoniyi moves elsewhere, but should that move be to Anfield, you would presume that 10% will be taken off the price tag. He also knows Liverpool well, and is clearly capable of finding the back of the net on a regular basis. Keep an eye on Awoniyi, as we could soon see him return to England.
