Divock Origi is certain to leave Liverpool this summer with the Belgian international’s contract set to expire at the end of this season.
According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old striker will call time on his seven-year spell at Anfield this year, with Origi set to be allowed to leave to pursue new ventures in football where he will likely play regular football.
The former LOSC Lille star has made just 13 appearances this season, scoring five goals and playing a role in Liverpool’s run to League Cup glory, with the Reds beating Chelsea on penalties at Wembley Stadium.
Labelled as ‘a legend’ by Jurgen Klopp, Origi’s status as a Liverpool icon will always remain, with the striker’s brace against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final one of the most iconic Anfield performances in recent memory.
Indeed, multiple clubs have been linked with Origi in recent months, and the Premier League striker will not be short of options when he leaves Liverpool at the end of this season.
The forward could be a solid option for many clubs in both England and around Europe, yet for Liverpool supporters, the departure of Origi will be a hard one to swallow given his cult status at the club.
Liverpool’s squad has come a long way since Origi arrived in 2015, yet now the time has come for the striker to depart the Premier League giants and to find a new home where he can play regular football.
The decision might be a hard one for Liverpool supporters to take, yet for Origi’s career, it is one most fans will agree is the correct one to make, with the striker more than ready to play a starting role for a club away from Liverpool.
