Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk following his efforts in the Reds' Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea yesterday afternoon.
Van Dijk helped Jurgen Klopp's side keep a clean sheet against the Londoners and was voted Man of the Match as a result of another imperious display in the heart of defence.
But the Dutchman's most notable contribution arrived in unlikely circumstances.
With no winning goal scored in extra time, Liverpool prevailed on penalties after a nerve-wracking shootout at Wembley.
All 11 players of the Reds' first-team left on the pitch managed to convert from 12 yards, which featured a special strike from Van Dijk.

It was a classic nervy cup final, with both sides leaving everything out there on the pitch for want of a better cliché, and the end-to-end exciting nil-nil draw led to a shootout.
Every single outfielder in the shootout dispatched their penalties tremendously, and then up stepped the keepers’ for their turn.
