Tim Sherwood says ‘outstanding’ Liverpool player ‘never gave the ball away’ yesterday – HITC
HITC Photo by PAUL ELLIS/AFP via Getty Images Tim Sherwood has lauded the ‘outstanding’ Fabinho during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (16/01/22 at 3:55 pm). The TV pundit claimed that Fabinho ‘never gave the ball away’ during Liverpool’s comprehensive three points. It was the hard-hitting midfielder who opened the scoring for the Reds when he nodded home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner just before the break. Whilst there were a few nerves and jittery moments from Liverpool, Fabinho’s opening goal eased the pressure around Anfield and they put the game to bed, thereafter. Former Premier League title winner, Sherwood, was seriously impressed by what he saw from Fabinho, as he compared him to Manchester City’s, Rodri. “That boy Fabinho,” said Sherwood. “He was outstanding. “He never gave the ball away. He’s like Rodri for Manchester City, he just controls the game. Absoutley fantastic he was.” That’s one Premier League game down where Liverpool will be without their iconic and deadly duo, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. Whilst their absence isn’t helpful, it might just work in Jurgen Klopp’s favour, especially if other players step up. Takumi Minamino hasn’t been able to get his engine going during his time on Merseyside, but this just might be the moment or period he can stand up and be counted. And if that’s the case, then it only adds more depth in quality to Klopp’s forward line. In other news, ‘I don’t know’: BBC pundit stunned by Tottenham Hotspur player v Wolves
